2019 Vancouver Island Workshop | $3100

  • Tofino Botanical Gardens 1084 Pacific Rim Highway Tofino, BC, V0R 2Z0 Canada (map)

Photography Workshop led by Yuri Choufour (5 nights accomodation Included)

Join me in early summer for this unique photo workshop experience on Vancouver Island's wild, west coast, where our group will stay at a local lodge in Tofino, British Columbia. Clayoquot Sound & Pacific Rim National Park embody beautiful, rugged wilderness like no other place on earth, & offer amazing opportunities for those that are up for the challenge. Prepare for long days, with lots of photography, instruction, editing and critiquing throughout. We'll begin our mornings early on the water, with a local guide to get us in the right spots to photograph wildlife. Friday & Sunday morning will be a calm water experience, & focused on photographing Black Bears foraging in the intertidal zone. The Saturday will see us heading out to the unprotected outer coast, which is always an adventure. We'll be watching for Sea Otters rafting amongst the kelp and visit rocky points to photograph Steller sea lions & Harbour seals. Additionally we'll be on the lookout for Bald Eagles, Gray Whales & Transient Orcas. We'll also cruise by a protected nesting site for many seabirds, including: Tufted puffins, Pigeon guillemots, Oystercatchers and more.

We will spend our evenings exploring & shooting my preferred beaches & trails, working on landscapes, long exposures and even some abstract details. The West Coast of Vancouver Island is one of my favourite places on earth, & rather than telling you, I'd love to show you. With temperate rainforest, long coastlines and abundant wildlife at our doorstep, the shooting opportunities are endless, but also challenging. Expanding your vision & helping you maximize the photographic opportunities will be my goal.
